Find a dentist in Mumbai to transform your teeth

Like all other branches of medicine, dentistry too has changed over the years. It has greatly developed and both in terms of pain control and the aesthetics of the field. There are many ways to save a tooth even as it is almost gone and also ways of restoring a lost tooth. India is a country that stands at the forefront of world dentistry and almost all the latest advancements can be found here.

When a tooth is decayed very badly the only way to save it is through a root canal treatment. This is a treatment that is also known as endontic treatment as in treats the area ‘endo’ inside the tooth or ‘don’t.’ A root canal problem is identified as such when the living tissue which keeps the tooth alive gets infected. It happens when the decay spreads into the tooth and reaches the pulp and finally reaches the tooth. At this stage the tooth cannot be saved by filling the cavity because the entire system of the tooth has been affected. This problem also occurs when the tooth is damaged from a crack, a fracture or even a chip.

The first thing to remember before undergoing a root canal procedure is that it is a process that eliminates pain rather than cause it. There are many stages for a root canal problem. The first step is numbing the tooth and its surrounding area using a local anaesthesia. Then a dental dam is placed. This is a rubber or vinyl sheet through which the infected tooth protrudes. This isolates the tooth and provides a sterile environment to treat the tooth. Then a hole is drilled into the tooth through the biting surface so that the pulp chamber and the root canals can be taken out. Once this is removed the tooth is no longer painful. Then the canals are disinfected and shaped so they can be filled. Once this is done, the tooth is washed out so that debris is flushed out. Then it is filled usually with a rubber like material called gutta percha combined with dental cement. The crown is placed over the tooth to seal it and protect it. Antibiotics may then be prescribed to prevent infection. The tooth is thus restored to its formal glory and is painless.

Of all the places in India which promotes dental tourism it is perhaps dentists in Mumbai that are the most popular. There are many options in the city for both regular and cosmetic dentistry and many people visit the city for the same. The dentists here are on par with those anywhere else in the world and the costs are more economical especially when compared to the west.

Different stages of dental implant procedures explained

Dentistry has greatly developed from a basic and painful branch of medicine into a highly skilled, specialised and painless system of treatment. It has also largely been influenced by aesthetics and there are many procedures that it uses that work on improving the appearance of the teeth and the smile.

Missing teeth can look quite unattractive as it leaves a gap and also causes misalignment in the future. This is where a dental implant is used. This is a post that resembles the root of a tooth. This is placed into the jawbone, well beneath the gum line so that it is permanently fixed and cannot be removed like a denture. It is onto the implant that the dentist fixes replacement teeth or bridges. They stand independently in the mouth and do not need the support of other teeth like regular bridges.

There are many stages in the placing of an implant. The first requisite for an implant is for the patient to have strong gums and jawbones in order to support it. The major dental implant stages are first x-raying the place where the implant is to be placed to ensure jawbone and gum support. Then an incision is made in the gum at the place where the implant is to be placed. Then a hole is drilled in the bone where the missing tooth was and the implant is placed into the hole and the incision is stitched over. Nothing is the done for the next five months till it heals and the implant fuses with the bone. Then an incision is made again and a metal collar is placed on the implant. This helps in keeping the gum away from the implant. After this an abutment is screwed onto the implant over which a temporary crown and then a permanent crown is placed. Thus this is a process that takes a long period but gives people a permanent replacement for a tooth.

Dental implants have developed all over the world with new processes and techniques making it more efficient. India is a country that has a very highly developed dental treatment scenario and the latest implant procedures are all available in most parts of the country. Since this is an expensive procedure, and dentistry in the country is reasonable cheaper, dental implants in India are sought after all over the world. Many people especially from western countries come to the country for this type of treatment and it is an important part of the dental tourist industry.

Learn the best tooth whitening tips

A clear dazzling smile is the one factor that attracts people and a beautiful smile is one of the reasons people visit dentists. The enamel of the teeth is white but over the years with the consumption of substances that stain like tea, coffee, wine, soda and other carbonated drinks teeth can start to yellow and lose their original colour. This is when a lot of people visit the dentists to restore their former dazzling smiles.

Whitening the teeth is a common procedure that is adopted by dentists all over the world as a cosmetic procedure. There are two ways in which this can be done – one with the professional tooth whitening procedure offered by dentists and the other with home treatments. The first is of course preferable. The enamel of the teeth is naturally an off white colour though its thickness and texture varies according to genetics. Every day a thin layer known as a pellicle forms on the teeth and collects stains. As people age also the teeth become more yellow. This procedure only brightens the surface of the teeth and cannot correct darkening caused by trauma etc. The dentist first cleans the teeth and applies a substance on the gums that is protective in function. The whitening gel is then applied to the teeth. This bleaches the teeth. The gel covered teeth are exposed to laser or light that activates the bleaching action further. This procedure may have to be repeated for better results.

After whitening, teeth may become sensitive so it is important to use a sensitive toothpaste for some time. There are many do at home procedures for whitening the teeth but the important thing to remember is the substances are usually corrosive and can affect the teeth in a detrimental manner. There are many tooth whitening tips that can be followed for whiter teeth. The first thing to do is to reduce the intake of food that stain the teeth like colas, tea and coffee. The next is in case dark coloured drinks have to be consumed to always do so with the help of a straw. Whitening toothpastes and whitening strips are also effective. Rinsing the mouth out after eating and drinking is also good. A home mixture of hydrogen peroxide and baking soda can also be applied to the teeth to whiten them at home.

Almost all the dentists in India offer the services of whitening. With a few sittings your beautiful smile can be restored to you with no trouble at all. First a careful analysis of the extent of stains is done and then the teeth are whitened. Deep stains may actually take a few more sittings but the result is always worth it. However once the teeth are whitened it is important to refrain from doing things that may stain the teeth again.
